The Texas A&M International University campus will sparkle with the sights and sounds of music, dance, fun, and food as the University presents a free outdoor "Twilight Pops Concert" Saturday, February 6 from 4 - 6 p.m. in the campus main plaza.
The concert, the official kickoff of the two-week long Washington's Birthday Celebration Association festivities, is family-friendly and alcohol-free.
Featured performers will include the Texas A&M International University Band; vocalist Fritz Gechter, assistant professor of Fine Arts at A&M International; and the University's five dance performance groups: the Modern Dance Troupe, Ballet Folklorico Infantil, High Twisters, Classical Spanish Ballet, and Ballet Folklorico.
Music and dance selections to be performed include: the National Anthem, a medley of patriotic music, "The Streets of Laredo," "Deep in the Heart of Texas," "Las Chiapanecas," "Flor de Piña," "Tanguillos de Cadiz," "The Best of Gipsy Kings Medley," "La Bruja," "La Bamba," and "El Carnaval."
A variety of food and refreshments will be sold during the concert, including delicacies from around the world presented by members of the University's international student community.
Free parking will be available on the three large parking lots on campus, with shuttles available to transport concert goers from their cars to the performance area.
