AHA Heart Walk at TAMIU Saturday Morning

Rain or sunshine, one of TV's most recognized faces, Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle, will lead the local chapter of the American Heart Association's American Heart Walk Saturday at Texas A&M International University from 8 a.m. - 12 noon.

Walkers will meet on the green in front of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library.

This is the second year that TAMIU hosts the national event that focuses on exercise as an important part of a heart-healthy lifestyle.

Teams, volunteers, and sponsors are being recruited city-wide for this 3-mile walk that enhances the AHA's ability to generate revenue and provides an opportunity for participants to have fun while supporting lifesaving heart disease research and education.

National sponsors for the 2003 American Heart Walk are Subway and NutriSoy.

Gold sponsor is Central Power and Light. Silver sponsors include Doctor's Hospital, Mercy Health Systems, and Area Wide Phone Book.

Other sponsors are JAMCO International, Sleep and Seizure Centers, H.E.B., Bolanos & Co. Inc., WaterMill Express and International Bank of Commerce.
