Former President Bill Clinton visits TAMIU Monday, Feb 22.

Former President Bill Clinton will make an historic visit to Texas A&M International University (TAMIU)  today, Monday, Feb 22 in the Kinesiology-Convocation Building (Gym) at 1 p.m.

The President was invited to campus by the University’s Student Government Association (SGA).  He will be welcomed by SGA President Joshua Llamas.  His visit was facilitated by Congressman Henry Cuellar,’82.

Because of seating limitations, TAMIU students, faculty and staff can make online reservations through the University’s portal, Uconnect.

The public is encouraged to attend.

Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. TAMIU students are cautioned that on-campus parking may be challenging, and they should consider carpooling or arriving earlier than usual.

The event will also be livestreamed on the University’s YouTube Channel at https://youtu.be/OfiTVT8nAM0   A remote viewing site will also be available in the Student Center Rotunda.

While Clinton has been a frequent visitor to Laredo over the years, this will be his first visit to TAMIU.

Interestingly, Webb County was the first Texas County to endorse Clinton in the race leading up to his election as the nation’s 42nd President in 1992.  His first term was from 1993-1997.  He was re-elected for a second term, 1997-2001.

Since leaving the presidency, Clinton has continued to be active in public life, primarily through the work of his William J. Clinton Foundation.

He is currently traversing the country in support of wife Hillary Clinton’s campaign for President.

This event is subject to change and as seating is limited, seating is not guaranteed.

Any event updates will be made available at tamiu.edu
