TAMIU to Transmit Second Installment of Literary Seminar on Spanish American Short Novel Friday

Mexican writer and journalist Juan Villoro will be the featured presenter during the second session of an inter-university and international literary seminar that will be delivered via a videoconference system from Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Friday, June 3.

The seminar, entitled, “Plural Writings: Theory and Praxis of a Short Novel,” will be conducted in Spanish and transmitted from 9 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. from Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 224. Villoro’s presentation, entitled, “The Transmigration of Desire” on the short novel, “The Soul Giver” by Amado Nervo, will be at 11 a.m. Villoro will be introduced by Mexican writer, lecturer and academic Rosa Beltrán.

This inter-university seminar delves into the study of Spanish American short novels or nouvelles. It draws both scholars and students from, Paris-Sorbonne University, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), and TAMIU.

All seminar sessions are free and open to professors, University seniors, graduate students of Spanish and to those interested in this topic.

Dr. José Cardona-López, TAMIU professor of Spanish and Spanish American Literature, will spearhead the transmission from TAMIU. His colleagues and co-organizers from Paris and México City will join in virtually.
