TAMIU SBDC Graduation Ceremony Held

The Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Small Business Development Center (SBDC) held its 18th Graduation Ceremony Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Monte Carlo Reception Hall, 6415 McPherson Road, for those completing the TAMIU SBDC's Small Business Management Certificate Course. 

The four-month certification program is designed to prepare the potential small business owner with essential business tools. Completion of the program enhances management skills and provides a good foundation for success. 

“Our Small Business Management Certificate program gives current and aspiring business owners the practical tools and knowledge they will need in order to successfully start and expand their small business. This program, combined with our advising and research services, provides our local business community with the required tools for success,” explained Michael González, director, TAMIU SBDC.

Graduation ceremony guest speakers were: TAMIU SBDC client Productos Doña Blanca and Webb County Judge Tano Tijerina.

A total of 60 participants received Certificates.

The next cohort begins classes in October 2017.

Since 2008, the TAMIU SBDC has helped more than 700 people with startups, business expansions, job creation and capital investments through the Certificate course and by offering advising, training and research year-round. 

TAMIU SBDC also offers conferences on special topics. The next conference, “HR Summit for Small Business,” will delve into relevant topics ranging from growing a workforce from the bottom up, to managing, measuring and justifying the value and importance of human capital.

The “HR Summit” is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 2 – Thursday, Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Falcon Bank, 7718 McPherson Road. Fee for the 2-day conference is $99 and includes course material. Breakfast and lunch will be provided by Falcon Bank.
