TAMIU's Communications Portal, Uconnect, Relaunches

Uconnect, Texas A&M International University’s official communications portal, has relaunched.

Uconnect is a web-based, single-sign on platform that provides members of the University community: students, faculty and staff, with gateway access to a multitude of TAMIU services. 

The relaunch offers users noticeable improvements, said Dr. Leebrian Gaskins, chief information officer.

“Our community of users will see an immediate streamlined experience that strips away clutter, getting them to the needed content or service faster. We’ve also optimized our display, navigation and organizational scheme to speed access to prime services like email and Blackboard, our virtual learning environment; calendars and news,” Dr. Gaskins explained. 

He said the relaunched portal also accommodates users’ request for a fully mobile-friendly tool.

“Our users are online 24/7 and want access wherever they are, on whatever device… so we’re adapting Uconnect with fully responsive design across devices, from desktop to smartphone, to tablet,” he noted.

Finally, Uconnect now integrates the University’s official social media feeds, helping all users to keep pace with life at TAMIU.

The Uconnect relaunch was overseen by a campus-wide committee including faculty and staff members and student focus groups who tested versions in development.
