TAMIU Annual Tree Lighting Set Thursday

Ol’ St. Nick will make a stop at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) for the annual TAMIU Tree Lighting Ceremony scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 30 from 6 – 9 p.m. in the Student Center (SC).

This event is free and open to the public and is hosted by the TAMIU Campus Activities Board (CAB).

“The University hosts this event to bring the community together and celebrate times of joy before the end of the year. During the event, we will have Santa present and there will be activities for all ages as well as food, performances and shopping at the TAMIU College of Education’s World Market Thursday,” said Mara Sarmiento Schaffler, associate director, TAMIU Office of Student Orientation, Leadership and Engagement.

World Market Thursdays is a new fundraising effort by TAMIU College of Education students which benefits TAMIU student engagement, including Feed My Starving Children MobilePack Meals, Spanish Literacy and Numeracy Teaching in the Dominican Republic for Children, Global Brigades Human Rights regarding women and children and in Panama and CHANCE: Creating Hope and Nurturance for Children Through Education. There will be several items for sale including local business art, crafts, jewelry, home décor and more. There will also be a silent auction for international fair-trade, American made items, gift cards and more.
