TAMIU Offers International Literary Seminar on Spanish American Short Novel - Friday, March 23

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) will present the 2018 edition of its  international inter-university literary seminar delivered virtually through videoconference starting Friday, March 23 at 9:30 a.m. at Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 224. 

Dr. José Cardona-López, TAMIU Regents Professor of Spanish and Spanish American Literature, spearheads the TAMIU transmission. His colleagues and co-organizers from Paris and México City join virtually.

The series is free and open to scholars, professors, graduate students and University seniors of Spanish, and to those interested in this topic.

This is the third installment of the series with  sessions drawing participants from Paris, México City and Laredo. This seminar, entitled, “Plural Writings: Theory and Praxis of the Short Novel,” delves into the study of Spanish American short novels or nouvelles. Conducted in Spanish, it draws scholars and students from the Université Paris-Sorbonne, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), and TAMIU. 

The first installment is Friday, March 23, at 9:30 a.m. (México, Laredo)/ 4:30 p.m. (Paris).  Other dates include Friday, May 4, and Friday, June 15, both at 9:30 a.m., local time. All sessions take place in TAMIU’s Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 224. 

All the sessions are also broadcast live through UNAM’s Institute of Philological Investigations TV Channel, which offers a setting via Youtube to interact with participants and academics from other universities in Europe and the Americas.
