Wicked Wellness Week Underway through Oct. 31

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Student Health Services is celebrating 2018 Wicked Wellness Week Monday, Oct. 22 – Wednesday, Oct. 31 at various locations at TAMIU.

Wicked Wellness Week is a yearly event aimed at raising awareness and increasing knowledge of wellness topics, including preventative, behavioral and mental health.

The week kicked off with a blood drive benefiting the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 22- 23, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Student Center parking lot.

On Thursday, Oct. 25, a health and information fair offers information on health services available to students through TAMIU Health Services and local community agencies. Students can meet with representatives from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Student Center Rotunda.

Also on Thursday, free flu vaccines will be offered to students from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Student Center Rotunda. Students should bring their student ID.

The University’s annual Halloween Fest is scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 6 - 9 p.m. at the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center lawn. Over 30 student organizations will set up snack and activity booths. The evening will be capped off with a costume contest. The event is free and open to the community.

Wicked Wellness Week concludes on Wednesday, Oct. 31 with a Talking, Listening & Counseling (TLC) session titled, “Drugs and Alcohol: Be Above the Influence.” Hosted by the University’s Student Counseling & Disability Services, the session will be held from 12 - 1:30 p.m. at the Student Center 231.
