Laredo Daybreak Rotary Club Scholarship Recipients Recognized at TAMIU Tuesday

In this season of giving thanks, some Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) students were able to thank an organization that provided them with scholarships to attend the University.

Officers and members of the  Laredo Daybreak Rotary Club recognized the students at a special luncheon hosted in the Helen Richter Watson Gallery of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library this Tuesday.

Amy Rodriguez, Laredo Daybreak Rotary Club president, noted that the group has donated $130,000 in scholarship endowments to TAMIU. 

“We created our first endowment providing scholarships in 1996.  We enjoy meeting with these deserving TAMIU students and learning about their degree progress and their exciting plans for the future,” Rodriguez observed.

TAMIU Laredo Daybreak Rotary Club Scholarship Recipients include:  Ginelie Botello, Christopher Cervantes, Roman Diaz, Alyssa Fuentes, Andrea Gonzalez, Amador Ibanez, Perla Medrano, Fabian Maldonado and Roberto Vertiz.

In a letter to the Laredo Daybreak Rotary Club, Perla Medrano, a TAMIU pre-med student who hopes to be a pediatrician someday, offered her appreciation for the Club’s scholarship support.

“An incredible award such as this will not only support me financially to continue studying and make these dreams a reality, but also creates a powerful impact on my academic and professional life that will allow me to reach my full potential in order to better help others,” she wrote.
