An all-female lead production of American playwright Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple (Female Version)” will be presented by Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) theatre students this weekend, Nov. 2-4 at the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts theater.

Performances are slated for Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. An afternoon matinee is slated for Sunday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m.

General admission is $5. Students with a valid ID enter free.

Simon’s lighthearted, comedic version of “The Odd Couple” tells the story of Olive Madison and Florence Unger, two polar opposite characters whose personalities continually clash throughout their friendship.

“Simon was one of the best wordsmiths of the American theatre. Since he started writing plays, there has not been a year when one of his plays was not being produced somewhere around the world,” said Dr. Gilberto Martínez, TAMIU assistant professional of theatre arts.

Martínez explained, “TAMIU students from Eagle Pass, Laredo, Canada, and even Germany make up this ensemble cast and we are truly representing the International community of thespians! The show is fun for the whole family, and we hope to see everyone as we pay homage to one of theatre's most loved and produced writers of the American stage.”

Members of the cast are Karina Esquivel, Joseph Filazzola, Ana Karen García, Stephanie Mancha, Nicole Menzel, Dalia Partida, Rolando Vela and Jocely Zarate.
