Social Work Conference Set March 28 at La Posada Hotel

A one-day Social Work Conference is scheduled on Friday, March 28 at La Posada Hotel from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Conference is sponsored by the Texas A&M International University Social Work Program and coordinated by TAMIU’s Office of Special Programs.

Theme for the Conference is “Finding Your Way Through Trauma and Addiction.”

Guest Speakers include Immaculata Santee, who has worked in counseling and dependency since 1979 and has trained therapists in the field since 1982. Her topic will be “Addiction.”

Judy Kajander, currently a school counselor at The Fay School, and a drug counselor in public schools for the past 25 years, will present “After Trauma: Moving from Surviving to Thriving.”

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available for Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors and Social Workers. Cost for these professionals is $75, plus an additional $10 for CEUs.

College and University students are welcomed to attend for a reduced fee of $20.

Last day to register is March 26. Late registration will be taken at the door with a $30 late fee.
