TAMIU Hosts On-Site Registration at Local and Area High Schools

Local and area high school students can register for summer or fall courses at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) without leaving their high school campuses during the University's "On-Site Registration" Wednesday, March 30 through Thursday, May 12.

Gina De La Miyar González, TAMIU associate director of admissions, said representatives from Admissions, Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, Testing and Housing will guide students through the registration process during On-Site Registration.

González explained TAMIU's registration process will be made available to local and area high schools through sophisticated computer systems linked to the University's main campus.

High school students who take advantage of On-Site Registration will be able to select their classes, finalize their course schedule, and receive a printed course schedule, all without leaving their high school campus, she said.

"This is a 'One Stop Shop' where once registered, all students need to do is attend a freshman orientation this summer and pay tuition and fees," González said.

The schedule for On-Site Registration at Laredo and area high school campuses is as follows:

Wednesday, March 30, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. - St. Augustine High School

Friday, April 1, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Lyndon B. Johnson High School

Tuesday, April 5, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. - United High School

Thursday, April 7, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Cigarroa High School

Friday, April 8, 9 - 11 a.m. and 1 - 3 p.m. - Vidal M. Treviño Magnet

Wednesday, April 12, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Alexander High School

Friday, April 15, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Nixon High School

Tuesday, April 26, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. - United South High School

Tuesday, April 28, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Martin High School

High school students who wish to participate in the University's On-Site Registration should schedule an appointment through an assigned TAMIU representative. Those students should have already filed an undergraduate application for admission with TAMIU and have been accepted by the University.

"Not only will we assist students who have already begun their application process, but this is also an opportunity for students who have not yet begun their application process to fill out an application for admission," González emphasized.

Admission forms may be obtained from high school counselors or through the University's Office of Admissions located in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, room 155.

Students who apply for admission to TAMIU must submit the following along with the admission form: an official high school transcript showing current class rank and grade point average; SAT or ACT scores; and THEA scores, unless exempt.

TAMIU will administer the THEA Saturday, April 23 and the Quick THEA will be held Tuesday, March 19, Friday, April 29 and Saturday, May 14.
