Lively musical notes will signal the arrival of a new season at Texas A&M International University's 2002 Music Spring Concert scheduled on Tuesday, April 9 at 7 p.m. in the Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 111.
A seasonal showcasing of University talent, the Music Spring Concert will bring to stage student guitarists, instrumentalists and vocalists. The event is free of charge and open to the public and presented by the University's department of fine and performing arts.
Dr. Gilberto D. Soto, department chair, said students are anxious to share the fruit of countless hours of practice with the University and community.
"These talented students will soon become the artistic backbone of our community and I encourage everyone to join us in applauding their efforts as they delight us with an array of styles such as classical, operatic excerpts, baroque, spirituals and madrigals as well as traditional flamenco pieces," Dr. Soto said.
Groups participating in the presentation include the A&M International Classical Guitar Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Soto; Chorale, Dr. Rachel Cruz; Chamber String Ensemble, Jennifer Cahill Clark; and Opera Workshop, Suzanne D. Ramo and Dr. Fritz Gechter.
