TAMIU Teams Earn Fifth Seeds in RRAC Post-Season
Texas A&M International University's men's and women's basketball
teams have earned fifth seeds in their respective Red River Athletic Conference
postseason tournament. Both tournaments will be held Thursday through
Saturday in Waxahachie, with Southwestern Assemblies of God University
serving as host.
The TAMIU women (14-8 RRAC) will face fourth-seeded UT-Permian Basin
in quarterfinal round action on Thursday at the Full Life Center on the
SAGU campus. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.. TAMIU and UTPB have split
two games this season, with each team winning on its home court.
The winner of Thursday's game between the Dustdevils and Lady Falcons
will advance to the semifinals to face the winner of the Houston Baptist
vs. Bacone College game. HBU (22-0 RRAC) is currently the top ranked team
in the NAIA top-25 poll.
The TAMIU men (13-9 RRAC) will open tournament play with a quarterfinal
round match-up against Texas College on Thursday at Waxahachie High School.
That game will also tip at 2 p.m.. TAMIU and TC have split two games
this season, with each team pulling off close wins on the other team's
home court.
The TAMIU vs. Texas College winner will play the Houston Baptist vs.
Bacone College winner in the semifinal round on Friday. All semifinal
round and championship games in both tournaments will be held at the Full
Life Center.
The Red River Athletic Conference will receive at least two berths
the NAIA Division I men's and women's National Championship. The men's
National Championship will be held in Kansas City, Mo. with the
women's tournament slated for Jackson, Tenn.
