TAMIU Launches ‘TAMIU Pride,’
Campus Facilities Betterment Effort
At age 14, showing one’s age is generally not a concern. At Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), the campus’ approaching 14th Anniversary has launched an innovative effort, dubbed “TAMIU Pride,” to insure that the University’s facilities never look their age.
Juan J. Castillo, TAMIU vice president for finance and administration, said “TAMIU Pride” targets maintaining the remarkable investment that the University represents and putting the best face forward for the University.
“As we approach our 14th year on this beautiful 300-acre campus, some facilities are starting to show their age. Our State and philanthropic partners have been so generous in helping create our University -- we want to be sure we maintain this remarkable investment for all members of the University community and the generations of students who will follow,” Castillo said.
“TAMIU Pride” encourages the University community’s reporting of any problem with campus facilities through a dedicated Web site for reporting facility issues or concerns. Concerns can also be reported from any on-campus phone by dialing P-R-I-D-E.
Castillo said examples of facility issues or concerns would include stained carpets, damaged walls, broken windows, burned out lights or something not working the way it should. He noted that the University’s upgrading of its exterior maps grew from a similar concern about aging signage.
“It’s all about making sure that TAMIU consistently presents the finest facility experience for its users and underscores the vision, mission and commitment of its founders. We have tremendous pride in this University and, through partnership with our students, faculty and staff, we’ll continue to keep it looking great,” he concluded.
