TAMIU Music Major Auditions May 7Musicians considering a major in music at Texas A&M International University should mark May 7 on their calendars. University, transfer and high school students must audition before they are recommended to become full-time music majors. "The auditions serve two purposes. The first is to know the performance level and overall musical skill knowledge of the student so we'll know what classes to advise the student should take. It also gives us a starting point to see how we can help the students with locally generated scholarships," explained Dr. Gilberto Soto, associate professor and chair of the department of fine and performing arts. Auditions will be held from 2 - 6 p.m. and will each last approximately 15 - 20 minutes. Students must call in advance to make an appointment to audition. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call the department at 956.326.2654. University office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Journalists who need additional information or help with media requests and interviews should contact the Office of Public Affairs and Information Services at pais@tamiu.edu |
