Intensive ESL Classes
At TAMIU this Summer
Registration starts Monday, May 8 for Texas A&M International University’s International Language Institute's (ILI) intensive English as a second language (ESL) courses. Classes will be held at the University Monday - Thursday from 8:30 a.m. - 1:15 p.m., Monday, June 12 – Friday, Aug. 4, 2006.
This intensive course is designed for non-native English speakers who seek to advance professionally or academically or just want to improve their English skills. The full level course consists of listening, speaking, grammar, reading and writing (l/s/g and r/w), and costs $1,038. Students are given the option of dividing the complete level into two half levels by taking the l/s/g component and then the reading and writing component. Each half level costs $538.
The small classes allow students to get personal attention during the eight-week immersion class. Students will also participate in an afternoon computer lab session.
All ESL students will be required to take a placement exam. The test includes listening, speaking, writing and multiple-choice questions. Fee for the placement test is $25. Tuition for the courses varies according to placement.
