TAMIU Summer Camps
Registration Underway
Just because the school year is over, it doesn't mean children are finished with learning until the next school year. Texas A&M International University's Summer Camps are the best way to fill that summer void for children about to enter pre-kindergarten to those heading for 11th grade.
The camps, offered by the Office of Special Programs, are divided into four camps and will run June 5 - July 6. Registration deadline is June 2, but space is limited.
The TAMIU Kinder Camp is open for children ages three to five and is scheduled for Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Children will receive instruction in math, science, reading, and writing. Tuition is $300.
Students in grades 1 - 6 can sign up for TAMIU's Children's Summer Workshop or the Academic Camp. The Summer Workshop is scheduled to meet Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Subject areas include: computer education, math, science, reading, writing, chess, arts, and crafts. Campers who sign up for the Academic Camp will meet Monday through Thursday, 1 - 5 p.m. Students will publish a book, learn about computers and science and do arts and crafts. Tuition for either camp is $300.
Older students in grades 7-11 have the option of signing up for PSAT/SAT classes or academic courses. PSAT/SAT classes will meet Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. The classes will focus on math, English and writing. Students who choose to attend academic courses will meet from 1- 4:55 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The academic courses will focus on rocket design, art, science, Web design, computers, and drag racing. Tuition is $350.
