Annual Day of Enrichment for University Employees
Texas A&M International University will celebrate its employees
with Staff Enrichment Day on Friday, May 28 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
The Spring 2004 semester will be over and Summer I not yet started as
TAMIU employees take a moment to come together and learn about topics
such as diversity, safety and leadership. While University offices will
remain open, staff will be greatly reduced, as all full-time employees
are encouraged to participate.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Larry Helms, an expert in the field
of industrial psychology and personal development programs. His presentation
is entitled "Maintaining Excellence at the Speed of Change"
and will discuss customer service, excellence, and coping with change.
In the afternoon, employees will break into smaller groups and participate
in workshops such as "BaFá-BaFá: Embracing Differences
at TAMIU," conducted by Dr. Terence Hannigan, director of Student
Counseling Services; "Ergonomic Basics: Staying Safe and Healthy
at Work," with Dr. Gordon Vos, assistant professor at the Texas A&M
University System's Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health,
"Working on Team TAMIU," run by Dean Allen, president of Dale
Carnegie Training of South Texas and "Leadership Skills: What it
Takes to Take the Lead," featuring Bob Hackett, executive vice president
of Dale Carnegie Training of South Texas.
