ESL Courses Underway at TAMIU This Summer

ESL Classes Taught at TAMIU this Summer

Registration is underway for Texas A&M International University International Language Institute’s (ILI) intensive English as a second language (ESL) courses. Classes will be held at the University Monday – Thursday from 8:30 a.m. – 1:15 p.m., June 13 – Aug. 5, 2005. Registration deadline is June 10.

This intensive course is designed for non-native English speakers who seek to advance professionally or academically or just want to improve their English skills.

The small classes allow students to get personal attention during the eight-week immersion class. Students will also participate in an afternoon computer lab session.

All ESL students will be required to take a placement exam. The test includes listening, speaking, writing and multiple-choice questions. Fee for the placement test is $20. Tuition for the courses varies according to placement.

ILI also offers two conversational English courses in the evenings on Mondays and Wednesdays and Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 7:30 – 9:45 p.m.

For more information, please contact Lola Orellano-Norris, program director, at 326.2136, e-mail ili@tamiu.edu or visit offices in the Anthony J. and Georgia A. Pellegrino Hall, room 302.

University office hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday
