A&M International Summer Programs and Camps Keep Youths Busy

Parents looking for educational but fun activities for their children can consider a variety of programs at Texas A&M International University designed to familiarize children and teenagers with skills ranging from computers to math this summer.

A&M International's Summer Programs and Camps 2001 will be held June 4 - July 20 and will include the Children's Summer Workshop, Summer Academy, Kinder Camp, Girls Volleyball Camp, Boys/Girls Basketball Camp, Soccer Camp for Girls and Soccer Camp for Boys.

The Children's Summer Workshop will be held from June 25 - July 20, from 8 a.m. - noon, Monday through Friday. The program, designed for first to sixth grade students, allows students to choose three subject areas. Subjects include Computer Whiz I, Computer Pro II, Co-op Sports, FUNdamentals of Gymnastics, Family Tree History Book, What's A Matter?, Artistic Adventures and Figure It Out. Tuition is $225 plus lab fees for those courses requiring lab work.

The Summer Academy, designed for seventh to 12th grade students, will be held June 25 - July 20, from noon to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Topics covered include the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), Forensics, Fermentation, Math, Computer, Art, Drawing, PrepPSAT English and PrepPSAT Math. Tuition for three classes is $250 plus lab fees; four classes, $300 plus lab fees; and five classes, $325 plus lab fees.

The Kinder Camp, for four and five year olds, will be held June 25 - July 20, from 8 a.m. - noon, Monday through Friday. Children will experience hands-on, fun activities with assignments geared towards math, science, reading, art and music in a non-threatening, classroom environment. Tuition is $200.

Also, the Girls Volleyball Camp, for fifth - 12th grade students, will be held June 4 - 8, from 8 a.m. - noon. Tuition is $75 including snacks and T-shirts.

The Boys/Girls Basketball Camp, for fifth - 12th grade students, will be held June 11 - 15, from 8 a.m. - noon, for girls and June 18 - 22, from 8 a.m. - noon, for boys. Tuition is $75 and includes daily power snacks and camp T-shirts.

A Soccer Camp will be held from July 2 - 6, from 8 a.m. - noon, for girls and June 25 - 29, from 8 a.m. - noon, for boys. Tuition is $75.
