The award, which was established by South Texas National Bank in 1995, is presented annually to the outstanding MBA-International Banking student.
Sobalvarro was nominated for the award by Dr. Kurt Jesswein, TAMIU Associate Professor of International Banking.
A plaque inscribed with Sobalvarro's' name will be permanently displayed in the University's College of Business Administration.
Sobalvarro graduated from TAMIU in May with a MBA in International Banking. He returned to his native Nicaragua and currently holds a position with the Central Bank.
