QuickBooks: Hands-on Workshop
Scheduled by TAMIU-SBDC Aug. 8
The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC) will sponsor a hands-on workshop on “How to Manage Your Business Finances with QuickBooks Pro” Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dr. Billy F. Cowart Hall, room 113.
The $50 fee includes a workbook and lunch. Limited seating is available. Interested persons should call the TAMIU-SBDC office at 956.326.2827, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
Richard Pérez, SBDC director, explains that the days of manually posting transactions to journals and ledgers are gone. Computer technology has ushered accounting into a new generation. The benefit for business owners is the opportunity to participate at a higher level in the financial administration of their businesses.
Invoicing, sales receipts check writing, and the subsequent flow of information into a cash-in bank register are among the important basic features found in most accounting software applications. However, these processes represent only a small portion of the accounting procedures that can now be done electronically through software like QuickBooks.
The Aug. 8 Workshop will include the following:
- What is financial management?
- Easy step interview tips (new company set-up)
- Chart of accounts
- How to add Items, customers and vendors
- Managing sales and expenses
- Budgeting and reports
- Resources and tips.
To register, call the TAMIU SBDC office at 956.326.2827, or register online at sbdc.tamiu.edu
Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
