TAMIU Joins Pearson VUE Testing Network
Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) will now be home to a
cutting-edge Information Technology (IT) certification testing system
that will provide computer-based administration of exams for certification
programs such as Microsoft, Cisco Systems, CompTIA, IBM and others.
TAMIU has partnered with Pearson VUE, an electronic testing business
of Pearson Education, to provide the IT certification test delivery using
the Pearson VUE Testing System in the University's Testing and Computer
Services Center.
Alejandro Martínez, director of testing and computer services
said the partnership makes TAMIU part of a global network of quality test
centers using the Pearson VUE testing system.
"This provides our region with a rare advantage of having a local
testing center available. In the past, persons seeking certification would
have to travel out of town to do so. Now that capability is here and is
being provided by the industry leader in professional licensing and certification,"
Martínez said.
As an authorized Pearson VUE Testing Center, TAMIU will be authorized
to deliver exams for the following testing clients: Adobe, Agilent Technologies,
American College, Avaya Inc. Testing, BindView, BMC Software, Brocade
Communications, Certifications International, Check Point Software Technologies
and Cisco Systems, Inc.
Also CIA, CompTIA Testing Systems, Linux Professional Institute Testing,
Lotus Testing, Macromedia, MatrixOne, Microsoft Business Solutions, MySQL,
Novell, PRMIA, RSA Security, Security Certified Program, Siebel Systems,
Siemens, Sun Microsystems - SAI Program, Telecommunications Industry Association,
Tivoli Testing, VERITAS, VMware Inc. and Zend Technologies, Ltd.
Martínez said the partnership allows for same-day testing, quick
results transmission and prompt updating of certification status.
"This capability has the potential to attract persons seeking certification
testing from throughout the region. We're also attracting considerable
interest from our neighbors in Mexico, who like having the testing center
located nearby," he explained.
The opportunity to become part of the Pearson VUE Testing Network came
about through a University collaborative between its Programs for Academic
Support and Enrichment (PASE) and Computer Telecommunications Services
(CTS), Martínez noted.
"We worked very closely in developing a proposal that maximizes
our University technology and capabilities with the Pearson VUE Testing
System," Martínez said.
Pearson VUE is the electronic business of Pearson Education. With operation
centers in the U.S., Netherlands, Australia, Japan, India and China, Pearson
VUE provides a variety of services to professional licensing and certification
markets. It currently serves 130 countries, with more than 3,300 Pearson
VUE Authorized Centers in its expanding network.
