TAMIU Dusty Survivors Camp Helps Students Succeed at University
On Monday, August 23, new Texas A&M International University students
will be getting inside information, to be used to succeed during the upcoming
academic years.
Students who attend the two-day New Student Orientation, beginning at
1 p.m. on Monday and ending at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, will have
the opportunity to preview the campus, ask questions and receive information
that will make the start of the new school year easier.
Lisa Flores, director of the Office of Student Activities, said the
orientation, called "Dusty Camp 2004: Survivors," would offer
new students an edge by providing exciting and important information about
TAMIU.
"A wealth of information about TAMIU services and programs will
be shared with new students. They will be able to interact with faculty,
staff and student leaders as they learn about academic programs, student
services and student clubs and organizations," said Flores.
She said a Graduate and Transfer Student Orientation is scheduled for
Thursday, August 19 from 5 to 8:30 p.m., allowing these students time
to have their specific questions answered.
New students who would like to attend any of the Orientations should
contact the Office of Student Activities at 326.2280.
University office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Journalists who need additional information or help with media requests
and interviews should contact the Office of Public Affairs and Information
