Pep Rally Marks New School Year for TAMIU Dustdevils
Hundreds of Texas A&M International University alumni, students,
faculty, staff and athletics fans will unite to show their support and
prepare the University's Dustdevils for a victorious school year at the
3rd annual Welcome Week Pep Rally following Fall Convocation Thursday,
September 2. The Rally will take place at the back patio of the Student
Center from 1 - 2:30 p.m.
The Rally, sponsored by the Interim Student Programming Board (ISPB),
will include performances by the TAMIU Dustdevil Cheerleaders and members
of the High Twisters. Attendees will enjoy a free lunch and have an opportunity
to jam out to music by Guerra Communication's Energy 98.1 FM. The Pep
Rally is free and open to the public.
The Pep Rally concludes Welcome Week, a collection of events that offers
alumni, students, faculty and staff the opportunity to become acquainted
with one another. A pool party initiates Welcome Week, and will be held
Sunday, August 29, at the Residential Learning Community at 6:30 p.m.
Club Rush will allow student organizations to recruit future prospects
Monday, August 30, and Tuesday, August 31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the
University Green. Wednesday's social event will be held in TAMIU's Lamar
Bruni Vergara Memorial Garden from 6 to 8 p.m.
"This event allows students, faculty and staff to come together
and support the athletes as well as the University's spirit. This will
mark the beginning of our continued efforts to show support for anyone
and everyone that steps onto this campus," said Stanley Pearson,
associate director of the Office of Student Activities, "The community
is always welcome to see what this incredible institution has to offer
and we encourage their participation and trust that it will be a positive
experience leading to excellent opportunities to participate and embrace
the campus."
