TAMIU International Chamber Music Festival
Honors Sept. 11 Heroes

To honor the memory of the Sept. 11 tragedy heroes and their families, this year’s Texas A&M International University International Chamber Music Festival will be dedicated to them. The Festival is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. in the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.

“This concert will be in special memory of the heroes and their families,” explained Dr. Yu-Mei Huang, Festival founder and coordinator.

“From solo organ, woodwind duet, three different sets of trios and our jazz band, we will have several different interesting sets in both classical and jazz music,” Dr. Huang continued.

The Festival features performances by TAMIU faculty members and guests artists with a special performance by Dr. Ray Keck, TAMIU president, on the Sharkey-Corrigan Organ.

In addition to Huang, performing musicians include: Dr. Susan Berdahl, associate professor of flute and musicology, Dana Crabtree, instructor music and voice, Dr. Friedrich Gechter, associate professor of music and piano, John R. Reimund, adjunct instructor of music/low brass, Dr. Gilberto Soto, professor of music education/guitar, Brendan Townsend, assistant professor of music, cello, and Dr. Xiaohu Zhou, guest artist, bassoon.
