International Chamber Music
Festival at TAMIU Sept. 4
Celebrate music’s power to bridge generations and cultures at the Texas A&M International University International Chamber Music Festival Thursday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. in the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Recital Hall.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The Festival includes performances by TAMIU professors and guest musicians.
“This concert was designed for professors and their current and previous students in celebration of music’s power to bridge generations,” said Dr. Yu-Mei Huang, Festival founder and coordinator.
Featured artists include: Dr. Gilberto D. Soto, professor of music education/guitar, Dr. Huang, assistant professor of upper strings, John. R. Reimund, adjunct professor of low brass, Dr. Susan Berdahl, associate professor of flute and musicology, Dr. Fritz Gechter, associate professor of music/piano, Dana Crabtree, instructor of voice and opera workshop, Brendan Townsend, assistant professor of music and Dr. Mieun Lee, visiting assistant professor of collaborative piano.
Program highlights include “American Fantasy” by Sy Brandon, “Dawn Carol” by Margare Lowe, “Salzburg by the Sea from Bells Are Ringing” by Jule Styne, humorous duet for two cats compiled by Robert Lucas Pearsall, “The Swan” by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns and arranged by Greg Anderson, “Sabre Dance” by Aram Khachaturian, Ludwig Van Beethoven’s Piano Trio Op. 1, No. 3, “Mediterranean Sundance” by Paco De Lucia and “Misty” by Erroll Louis Garner.
