TAMIU Hosting Border Olympics

Texas A&M International University will host the first Border Olympics Collegiate Volleyball Tournament this Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Kinesiology and Convocation Building on campus. The four-team field will feature TAMIU, North Dakota, Tarleton State and UT-Brownsville.
Four matches will be played Friday, staring at 11 a.m. The tournament will conclude with two matches on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m.
General admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students (K-12). Anyone with a TAMIU ID will be granted free admission.
Goyo López, president, Border Olympics, says that volleyball is a great fit for the Border Olympics mission.
“Border Olympics welcomes the addition of an NCAA Division II volleyball tournament to its repertoire of amateur athletic events,” Lopez said. “The addition of this volleyball tournament means additional visitors to our city, a caliber athletic event for our sports enthusiasts and a venue for young ladies to see female collegiate athletes excel at this level of play.”
López also says that Border Olympics sponsorship allows the organization to build a stronger relationship with the University.
