Author of Inspirational Book Shares Lecture at TAMIU Oct. 5
Rabbi Jack Segal, author of the inspirational book "Focus on the
Bagel, Not on the Hole," will present a guest lecture at Texas A&M
International University on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Dr. F. M.
Canseco Hall 101. The event is free and open to the public and sponsored
by the University's College of Arts and Sciences.
Segal is rabbi emeritus of Congregation Beth Yeshurun of Houston.
His latest book is the second in a planned trilogy. The first was "When
Man Closes Doors, God Opens Windows." Rabbi Segal is currently writing
"Remember What You Still Have Left, Not What You Have Lost."
All books in Segal's series share a common theme: never give up -- never
give in; and contain a series of stories that help to underscore the theme.
Segal says his books anchored in the power of hope.
"They are all books of optimism, attempting to implant hope in
those who only see dark clouds and deep gullies. They attempt to preach
the principle: 'you've got to accentuate the positive and eliminate the
negative.' They attempt to instill the hope that one's tomorrows will
be better than one's today. They try to guide people toward the attitude
that after the darkest night, the sun always rises," he explains.
Segal has traveled extensively to share this optimistic book series
and has made appearances in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Brownsville,
McAllen, Portland, OR. and Greensboro, NC.
