Importance of Voting Forum Set for Tues., Oct. 5 at TAMIU
On Tuesday, October 5, a public forum on "The Importance of Voting:
An International Perspective" will be held at Texas A&M International
University, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Western Hemispheric Trade Center,
room 111. The event is free and open to the public.
Mayor Betty Flores, who has been appointed to the Board of Trustees
for the Help America Vote Foundation, will serve as keynote speaker. Additional
speakers include Lic. Manuel Moncada Fuentes, Vocal Ejecutivo de la Junta
Distrital del IFE de Tamaulipas, Bill Green, from Yes I Will Vote, and
Roberto Flores, TAMIU Student Government Association Senator at Large.
An open forum, which will include the speakers as well as C.P. Fernando
Torres Villarreal, Presidente del Consejo de Instituciones de Nuevo Laredo,
and Lic. Sergio Preciado Carmona, Director de Relaciones Internacionales
del Consejo de Instituciones and Joseph Holland, chair of TAMIU Student
Programming Board, will follow.
The forum is co-sponsored by TAMIU's Division of International Programs,
and Consejo de Instituciones de Nuevo Laredo to help promote the Hispanic
vote.
