Dr. Ray Keck, TAMIU president, said these and other partners have provided the University with crucial and historical support.
“They make our Commencement possible. They help to insure that we can deliver quality programs in remarkable facilities with a gifted faculty that empowers students for global success. Our candidates or graduation can certainly draw inspiration from them on this special day of celebration,” Dr. Keck said.
Speaking at the 10 a.m. exercise for candidates for graduation from the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business is David Winfield Killam, manager of Killam Management, L.C.
In addition to the provision of the 300 acres of land that is home to TAMIU, the Killam Family has generously supported campus construction projects, program enhancements, endowed faculty chairs, student scholarships and athletics development.
Speaking at the 2 p.m. College of Education and College of Nursing and Health Sciences exercise is Renato Ramírez, president of International Bank of Commerce-Zapata.
Once a faculty member at the former Laredo State University, Ramírez has also established a generous scholarship endowment at Texas A&M International University that has assisted over 25 students from Zapata to date.
Providing commencement remarks at 6 p.m. for candidates for graduation from the College of Arts and Sciences is Shirley Sandlin González, president of the Board of Directors of the Guadalupe and Lilia Martínez Foundation, established by her uncle and aunt in 2001.
The Foundation has provided critical funding support for TAMIU’s Study Abroad Programs, including the University's "Reading the Globe" Program which has seen students travel to Poland, Ghana and, this Spring, to Cambodia.
