‘Holiday Festival’ at TAMIU’s Lamar Bruni Vergara
Planetarium Brings Magic, Santa Claus

This Thanksgiving, bring your family to the Texas A&M International University Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium’s Annual ‘Holiday Festival’ and see everyone’s favorite season come to life on the big screen Saturday, Nov. 27, from noon – 8 p.m.

The Festival will feature two favorite holiday movies, including the premiere of “Holiday Music Magic” and musical performances between shows by students of various local schools.

Admission is $3 per movie. Doors open at 11 a.m. A snack bar will also be open.

Gerardo Pérez, Planetarium director, said everyone is welcome to the event. He said children can expect a special visit by Santa Claus and picture opportunities.

“We invite everyone in the community to visit the Planetarium and enjoy this moment of holiday magic in a full-immersion movie theater,” Pérez said, “The Holiday Festival is a fun and affordable way for families and friends to gather and spend quality time together right here in Laredo without the need to travel or venture far.”

The event schedule is as follows:

  • Doors open at 11 a.m.
  • Noon – “Holiday Music Magic” premiere
  • 1 p.m. - Holiday Feature Film
  • 3 p.m. – “Holiday Music Magic”
  • 4 p.m. – Holiday Feature Film
  • 6 p.m. – Holiday Feature Film
  • 8 p.m. – Holiday Feature Film

Music performances between shows, at 2:30, 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. will feature United High School’s Vocal Jazz Group, Zaffirini Elementary School’s Lynx and Jr. Lynx Choirs and Christen Middle School’s Los Tigrillos de Oro.

University offices will be closed starting Nov. 25 in observation of the Thanksgiving Holidays. Offices will resume regular hours from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday. Nov. 29.
