Dusty Camp Offers
TAMIU Orientation This Week
New Texas A&M International University students and first-time freshmen are going to Camp this week – mandatory orientation Dusty Camp -- scheduled Thursday and Friday, July 14-15.
“The Dusty Camp gives students information that sets the stage for a timely and purposeful transition to University life,” said Miguel Treviño, associate director of Student Affairs.
“It’s a required overnight program for all first-time entering TAMIU freshmen that gives them the necessary tools to be successful as they begin their TAMIU studies,” he explained.
“They’ll meet fellow classmates, learn about expectations, campus navigation, and spend the night at TAMIU to absorb University life. They’ll also learn how to be successful during the first year and beyond,” Treviño noted.
Additional Dusty Camps are scheduled Aug. 4-5 and Aug. 15-16.
The Dusty Camp experience is also available as an option to TAMIU parents with Parent and Family Orientation scheduled July 14 and Aug. 4 and 15.
Parents will connect with University administrators and other parents and learn about TAMIU’s student support programs and services available, Treviño said.
Online registration is available at tamiu.edu/studentaffairs/newstudent
The site also includes an online photo gallery to the Orientation and access to important student success resources.
