TAMIU Bands Present
Spring Pops Concert Thursday

Enjoy an evening listening to the entertaining and toe-tapping sounds of the Texas A&M International University Bands Spring Pops Concert Thursday, March 10, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Audiences will hear a broad range of music presented by the TAMIU Wind Ensemble and Big Band.  Selections will range from music from “Batman” and “Avatar” movies to Glen Miller’s “Little Brown Jug” to classical pieces from the 19th Century.

Featured soloists in Franz Krommer’s Concerto for Two Clarinets are Enrique Rodriguez and Angel Ortiz.  The ensembles are directed by Dr. David Manuel Garcia, director of bands at TAMIU.

“It’s pretty cool that we can do music from TV, movies, wartime radio shows, classical orchestra and popular big bands all on one concert,” says senior trumpet major, Cesar Casiano, who has solos in “Selections from Ray Charles.”
