New TAMIU Art Exhibit Features
Award-Winning Book Illustrations
Local and area children will be in for a treat with the upcoming art exhibit, “Golden Kite, Golden Dreams,” on display at the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Gallery. An opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 6 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. in the CFPA Gallery Lobby.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Adults are strongly encouraged to bring their children to the reception. Finger sandwiches, cookies and punch will be served.
The “Golden Kite, Golden Dream” exhibit is part of a tour around the U.S. It features a retrospective of award-winning illustrations across a 40-year period.
The Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators present the Golden Kite Awards annually to recognize excellence in children’s literature in four categories: fiction, non-fiction, picture book text and picture book illustration.
The exhibit will be on display through Sunday, Nov. 18.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Thursday or by appointment.
