Tickets Available Now for Historic Performances
of Iconic ‘The Nutcracker’ at TAMIU Dec. 4 - 7

Make this holiday season extra special by taking in a performance of Peter Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Thursday, Dec. 4 – Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Theatre.

The production will feature dancers from the Mejia International Ballet as well as 51 local dancers. The iconic score will be performed live by the Laredo Phil.  It also marks the first time in the Laredo area that a ballet is performed with a live orchestra.

Tickets range from $20 - $100.

Show times are:

  • Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.
  • Friday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 6 at 2 and 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.

This production of “The Nutcracker” is choreographed and directed by founder of Mejia Ballet International, Paul Mejia, a well-recognized name in ballet. Mejia is a former principal dancer under the famous choreographer George Balanchine at New York City Ballet. His production of “The Nutcracker” continues the holiday tradition of this very popular ballet.

Russian prima ballerina Olga Pavlova, who has been hailed at “The New Pavolva” by Dance Magazine, referring to the famous Russian ballerina Anna Pavolova, will bring to life the delicate Sugar Plum Fairy.

Pavlova graduated from the famed Bolshoi Ballet Academy and holds a master’s degree in teaching and choreography from the Moscow Academy of Professional Arts. She won the Gold Medal and first prize at the International Ballet Competition in St. Petersburg. Pavlova has toured to over 30 countries with the legendary Maya Plisetskaya and has worked with numerous noted choreographers. Her repertoire includes principal roles in over 50 classical and contemporary ballets.

Tickets are available for purchase online.

Option for mail outs will end Tuesday, Nov. 25. Tickets for pick up can be purchased online through Tuesday, Dec. 2.  Tickets will also be available for sale one hour prior to each performance.
