TAMIU Art Professor
Finalist for NICHE Award

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) assistant professor of Art David Bogus was named a finalist in the 2012 NICHE Awards Competition, considered the highest recognition for both production and limited-edition craft works made in the United States and Canada.

More than 2000 entries were reviewed for the contest, sponsored by NICHE Magazine. The NICHE Awards program began in 1989 to celebrate excellence and innovation in American and Canadian fine craft. Artists are recognized in professional and student divisions.

Bogus’ professional entry, “The Optimist Luggage,” is in molded ceramics and was created in 2011.

Winners will be announced in a special ceremony at the Buyers Market of American Craft (BMAC) in February 2012. Finalists will display their work at BMAC.

Bogus joined the University in 2010. He holds his MFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a BFA from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth.

NICHE Magazine was founded for the purpose of connecting art galleries and craft retailers with the finest wholesale crafts, handmade gifts and decorative art objects made in artist studios throughout the United States and Canada.
