who we are

We are dedicated to creating a lasting, positive impact at TAMIU. Since the fall of 2015, we have helped empower Dustdevils in many different ways, including establishing the first endowment in TAMIU history that was entirely funded by students for students.

We are the first organization that is entirely dedicated to generating a sense of pride and giving at TAMIU. Some of the newest traditions brought to TAMIU thanks to SPC include Random Acts of Kindness Week, Penny Wars, and #TAMIUGivingTuesday.

Through a myriad of different events and opportunities, we motivate students to be the best version of themselves possible; a version, we hope, that inspires them to give back to TAMIU and join us in our mission to advance the University and student philanthropic support.

Penny Wars

A "war" between all colleges and schools that gives students the chance to showcase their college/ school pride while also making a positive impact on campus. Proceeds have benefitted general scholarships, the LBV Planetarium, the School of Engineering Robotics Program, and the Center for Fine and Performing Arts.

A day of giving and gratitude, #TAMIUGivingTuesday takes place primarily on digital channels. On this day, members of the community (students, alumni, faculty/ staff, parents, friends) are asked to give to TAMIU. Donors can give to any area of their choosing including but not limited to scholarships, colleges/ schools, athletics, international experiences, and more.

Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Week

During #txamiuRAK week, we spread kindness, love, and positivity. Activities during RAK Week include rocks of kindness, Free Hugs, writing and sharing positive messages, and innovatively encouraging others to participate by committing to do a random act of kindness for a stranger or a friend.

Student Philanthropy Week

Student Philanthropy Week is a chance for students to become more informed on not only SPC but the importance of student philanthropy at TAMIU.  For the 2017-18 academic year, students only paid 18% of the total cost of attendance at TAMIU. Though we appreciate state and federal financial assistance, most of our budget comes from our generous donors. This week is a perfect opportunity to say thank you and join the cause!

Class Giving Campaign

Are you a graduating Dustdevil? Whether you're about to obtain your bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree, the Class Giving Campaign is your chance to say thank you and pay it forward for the next generation of Dustdevils. You can visit our website for more information.

Dustdevil P.R.I.D.E. Scholarship

Started in 2016 for students, by students, the Dustdevil P.R.I.D.E. Scholarship Endowment was an initiative dreamt up by the inaugural Student Philanthropy Council. Since its initiation, graduating TAMIU students have donated over $20,000, allowing SPC to award 8 $1,000 scholarships before the end of 2018. Visit our website for more information.
