IMPACT ON THE REGION v In 2000 83% of our graduates identified themselves as first in their family to graduate from college. Today, that number has dropped to 57%. In addition, we are seeing more second and third generation students. v In 1970, TAMIU’s budget was $1,000,000 ; in 1995, the budget was $9,500,000 ; today our total budget is over $125,000,000. We have an economic impact on Laredo and the region.
