Strategic Plan (2011-15)

Dear Visitor:

Welcome to the Texas A&M International University Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Re-affirmation web page. You have spread before you documents, data, and narrative compiled to accompany the re-accreditation process for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Several years of planning, discussion, and research stand behind the pages which follow.

In an era when “partnership” and “accountability” dominate discussions of education at all levels, we are confident that you will find Texas A&M International University rich in collaborative thinking, cooperative initiatives, and appropriate assessments.

Write On, TAMIU!, our Quality Enhancement Plan dedicated to the improvement of student writing describes our strategies to strengthen the teaching of writing on this campus. In addition, the plan engages the entire University in a continuing process to assess and to improve writing unique to each discipline. A vision for the future, the QEP also enables us to incorporate our own experiences of more than two decades, to relate those experiences to current thinking about the writing process, and to devise a concrete and comprehensive model for assessing and improving writing in this learning community.

We think this document will provoke discussion and reflection which lead to new strategies for learning and teaching. As you read this from afar, we invite you to share your thoughts and suggestions with us. We hope one day to welcome you to this beautiful campus so that together we may pursue the endless quest to be better.

Most sincerely,
Ray M. Keck, III
