II: COC Core Requirement
2.1 The institution has degree-granting authority from the appropriate government agency or agencies. JUDGMENT OF COMPLIANCE Compliance. NARRATIVE/JUSTIFICATION FOR JUDGMENT OF COMPLIANCE Texas A&M International University receives degree granting authority from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), as per the Texas Education Code, Chapter 61, Section 61.051. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board reviews the role and institutional mission, as well as the table of programs, for each institution every four years. The institutional mission and the table of programs define the academic fields and degree levels approved by the Coordinating Board to be offered by the institution. The chairperson of the Board of Regents is required to be part of the review process. The Institutional Mission and Table of Programs for Texas A&M International University were considered by The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents at its May 27-29, 1998 meeting. The documents were then submitted for consideration on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Agenda, April 23, 1999. (THECB Mission Statement and Table of Programs Approval Memo) Reviews of the Institutional Mission and Table of Programs are currently under way. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Program Inventory for Texas A&M International University contains the current listing of approved programs offered by the institution. The university continues to respond to program needs of students in our service area by increasing the number of degree programs available (Recent Degree Program Approvals).
