NARRATIVE/JUSTIFICATION FOR JUDGMENT OF COMPLIANCE
The University President has ultimate control over fund-raising activities. Under The Texas A&M University System Policy 21.05: Gifts, Donations, Grants, and Endowments, the Board delegates to the Chancellor and the University Presidents the authority for preliminary acceptance of gifts, donations, grants and endowments. In addition, prior to any formal announcement, a gift must be reviewed in accordance with this policy and The Texas A&M University System Regulation 21.05.01: Gift, Donation, Grant and Endowment Administration.
With the approval of the University President, the Office for Institutional Advancement serves as the coordinating agency for all types of fundraising programs and for all solicitation and appropriate processing of funds.
The University President authorizes and participates in fundraising activities, such as:
- Annual fundraising campaign
- Special fundraising efforts regarding sponsorships, scholarships, memorial funds, fellowships, professorships, endowed chairs
- Fundraising for the construction, expansion, or renovation of university buildings
- Requests to private sources for funding of new or existing academic programs
Once gifts are received, the University President has directed the Office for Institutional Advancement to implement administrative procedures which ensure gifts are used in accordance with the donor's intent. (Office for Institutional Advancement Rules and Procedures)
