The TAMIU Greek Community offers various opportunities for Dustdevils to gain a sense of belonging not only for their organization, but also for their University. The TAMIU Greek Community consists of multiple diverse Greek Organizations. These organizations will amplify your undergraduate experience by challenging you in the areas of service, campus involvement, academic excellence, and brotherhood and sisterhood.
Our Greek groups are firm believers on filling needs that need to be met. They promote community service, giving, and even coordinate their own events to further serve our community. Every Fraternity and Sorority is required to do a minimum of 100 community service hours each academic school year.
Fraternity and Sorority groups are a big part of our campus and play an essential role in making our students feel welcomed. Within every Greek organization there are various leadership positions available to its qualifying members.
Some of our Greek Organizations are linked to academic achievement or toward a certain major, while others require you to maintain a certain GPA. According to studies, student’s that are involved in Greek Organizations are more likely to graduate than those who are not.
Brotherhood and Sisterhood
Joining a Greek organization is a great opportunity for you to build friendships with other students at your university. Each Greek group is determined to make their members feel welcomed and do so by planning social events for members to not only meet people in your specific chapter but to also fellowship with other groups. One of the major difficulties that college students face is the fact that they are away from home, but thanks to Greek organizations you are embraced into a family away from home. Sooner than later you will find yourself calling your fellow members, “brother or sister.”
