SSB students wishing to change from one business degree to another must complete a
Request to Change Degree Form.
This form may be obtained from the Graduate Advisor. Form must be submitted to the Graduate Advisor who will verify student meets the prerequisite
requirements. Request is forwarded to the Chair of the Appropriate Department as well as the Dean of SSB for final approval.
Transfer Credit
Students may petition to transfer a maximum of two courses (6 sch) of graduate coursework for which a grade of B or better was earned on each
course at a regionally accredited institution. Coursework must not be part of a previously earned degree. Transfer credit may apply solely for
elective/concentration courses; required courses that are part of the business graduate curriculum must be completed at TAMIU. Coursework may not
be more than 7 years old by the time the student graduates. To initiate the request, student must complete a
Request for Transfer of Credit Form and submit required documentation to the Graduate Advisor for processing.
Request must be approved by both the Department Chair and Dean of SSB
Degree Time Limit
Time limitation for business graduate degrees is seven (7) years. The time begins with the earliest graduate level course taken that applies to
the degree program whether the student was enrolled as a degree-seeking or non-degree seeking student. This regulation applies to work being
transferred from any other institution.
Applying for Graduation
All business students expecting to graduate in an upcoming semester must apply for graduation by the deadline specified in the Academic Calendar.
Application forms may be obtained at the University Registrar’s Office or with the apropriate Advisor. The Graduation Form must be completed by
the student and signed by the Advisor. Application form is returned to the University Registrar’s Office. Graduation fee is to be paid at the
Business Office.
Application for graduation is not transferrable to a subsequent semester. If student does not graduate, the application will be cancelled.
A new application must be submitted and filed for the new date of graduation. The diploma fee is transferrable.
Additional Master’s Degree Policy
A graduate student seeking a second master’s degree from the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business must complete twenty-one (21) semester credit hours
of graduate-level business courses beyond the course work in the degree plan(s) for all prior master’s degrees taken from SSB and must meet all
other requirements for the additional master’s degree.
