Graduate Business Fellowship

The A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business at Texas A&M International University is making available Fellowship grants to qualified students pursuing a Master's degree from the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business. The degrees are as follows: Master of Business Administration (MBA); MBA-International Trade (MBA-IT); Master of Science-Information Systems (MS-IS); and Masters of Professional Accountancy (MPAcc). The duration of each Fellowship is for one consecutive year.

Fellowship Benefits
Texas Residents :
The total cash award for Texas resident recipients will be $1,000.00, payable in two equal installments (paid after the mid-semester mark of the fall and spring semesters). This is a $1,000.00 total award

Non-Texas Residents :
The cash award for non-resident recipients will be $1,000.00, payable in two equal installments (paid after the mid-semester mark of the fall and spring semesters). Non-residents awardees will also receive resident tuition status. The resident tuition status will be for two regular semesters and two summer sessions that fall within the award year. This is a total award of approximately $9,000.00 ($1,000.00 stipend with the resident tuition status for the Fellowship term which, depending on number of courses enrolled in an optional summer session enrollment, could reach $9,000.00)

Fellowship Criteria

Applicants must meet all admission requirements and must be fully admitted to a graduate program in the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business. Fellowship awards will be determined by a Fellowship Committee appointed by the Dean of the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business. The Fellowship Committee will evaluate applications from applicants based on the following information:

  • Graduate Business Fellowship Application
  • Scholarship Criteria
  • Typed Essay

A graduate Student Fellowship recipient must meet all entrance requirements and be accepted for admission to graduate study at Texas A&M International University and the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business.

Closing Dates for Applications
  • Fall Semester : June 01
  • Spring Semester: November 01
Applicants must understand and agree to the following conditions:
  1. Meet all entrance requirements and be fully accepted for admission to graduate study at Texas A&M International University and the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business. To determine admission eligibility, the following application material must be submitted:
    • A completed Application for Graduate Admission
    • Non-refundable $25.00 (USD) application fee. Late applications will be assessed a $10.00 late fee
    • Official transcripts sent directly from each College/University attended or attending
    • Official GMAT or GRE score report
    • Two letters of recommendation
    • One-page statement of purpose
    • Updated resume
    • International applicants must also provide the following additional information:
      1. Official TOEFL score of 79 or higher (IBT) or successful completion of the English Language Program at TAMIU's International Language Institute
      2. Certificate of graduation
      3. Required financial documents (financial statement, sponsor's letter, bank statement)
  2. Plan to enroll for at least 9 hours per regular semester. Summer sessions are not required, but are covered by the Fellowship
  3. Follow the curriculum (degree plan) prescribed for the recipient's chosen degree, and maintain a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.25/4.0
  4. Fulfill a 60-hour assignment per long semester and, if enrolled in summer school, 15 hours per summer session, on projects assigned by the Dean of the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business. Typical work assignments may include special research projects, being student host at local economic conferences, providing campus tours to new students and/or assisting with orientation of new students
  5. Have an academic record justifying consideration by the selection committee

The duration of each Fellowship grant is to be one (1) academic year cycle, starting in Fall or Spring. A recipient who fails to maintain the required minimum number of hours per semester; maintain the required GPA during the period of the Fellowship and/or fulfill the fellowship assignment will lose the benefits of the Fellowship for the remainder of the Fellowship period
