History and Membership
In the Fall of 1992 some Colleges and Universities in the South Texas called
the First Meeting of South Texas Mathematics Consortium to be held at Texas
A&M University-Kingsville. The purpose of the group was to provide
a
professional meeting place in South Texas, primarily for the accessibility
reasons. At the fifth annual meetings, the STMC Executive Committee together
with representatives from institutions from San Antonio and Northeastern
Mexico approved the extension of membership services to include San Antonio
and Northeastern Mexico regions.

The Second Annual Student Conference in Mathematics and its Applications
at TAMU-CC was concurrently scheduled with the Fourth Annual STMC Meeting
hosted by TAMU-CC. Subsequent to that meeting it was decided to expand
STMC services by holding a Student Conference in conjunction with the STMC
Annual Meetings. Students from STMC Member/Guest Institutions are invited
to participate.
