The Bridge is a student-run news organization committed to fostering a learning environment for students who seek a career in print journalism or who wish to develop their thinking and reasoning skills. The Bridge emphasizes clear language, substantive content, and critical analysis in seeking and publishing its news articles.
The Bridge believes that journalism is an intellectual activity, and that it is vital to the central tenets of a democratic society. The Bridge practices journalism with the standard of reporting conduct. In the face of ever-expanding technologies, The Bridge will concentrate on developing the core skills of journalism: cogent, coherent examination and presentation of any issue or event it covers. The Bridge will be a public forum for the voices of the students who operate it.
The Bridge will communicate and deal with every citizen and the community in a professional manner, in accordance with a temperate standard of protocol. The Bridge shall subscribe and strive to uphold the Code of Ethics of the Society of Professional Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi.
