Chapter History
On January 14, 2004, eight women undertook a journey to bring sisterhood to Texas A&M International University.  Through hard work and dedication they formed a sorority interest group.  With this, they hoped to dedicate their time in uniting their fellow female students under the bond of sisterhood.

Along the way, six of the original eight had to withdraw due to circumstances beyond their control.  It seemed that bringing a sorority to TAMIU was going to be nearly impossible.  After holding interest group meetings, the remaining two met new hardworking girls.  Once again, fate played a part and another one of the original eight had to withdraw.

With this there were only seven girls who continued to fight to bring a chapter of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. to Texas A&M International University: Erica González, Celina Arámbula, Roberta Meza, Mary Gutiérrez, Cynthia Chávez, Kristy Montemayor, and Nora García.  Shortly, they were joined by Lizsandra García and Elizabeth Ortíz.  Ms. Kimber Palmer and Mrs. Hayley Kazen agreed to help the girls on their quest, thus becoming their advisors.  Their hard work and dedication paid off on March 13th; they were finally pinned as an official colony of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc.

Due to unfortunate and unforeseen events, three of the members were not able to complete the process.  Because of such events, Erica González, Roberta Meza, Celina Arámbula, Lizsandra García, Elizabeth Ortíz, and Mary Gutiérrez decided that the most appropriate name for their charter class was Survivors.

On May 15, 2005 the girls became the Alpha Iota Chapter of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. thus fulfilling the original eight's dream of bringing a sisterhood to Texas A&M International University.
